i'm alternating between "about face" and "dead until dark". First one is a military autobiography, second is this lil book about this telepathic louisiana barmaid who falls in love with a vampire, after vampires become an accepted "minority" in american culture. It's great, i recommend it for a quick, entertaining read.

I haven't gotten into this one. Usually I like the books that we read at school. (Gr. 11 - Catcher In The Rye heh....)

This one...I guess I don't really relate to any of the characters.

You speak about the movie with Matt Damon...
It's the first part of a trilogy.
The movie deals with the first part and i'm reading the last...
I'm so sad cause after the last page, Jason Bourne will disapear...

There is action at each page... James Bond is baby near Jason Bourne

Hey, dragonsorceress, you mentioned Bentley Little?

I like some of his stuff. Good mainstream quick-fix horror. (I particularly liked "Dominion" -- very cool concept.)

I'm reading Tanya Huff right now -- I highly recommend her to all and sundry, especially her "Summon the Keeper" series. Hysterical -- I particularly enjoyed hearing Hell arguing with itself.

Read the Cathlic editions if you can - the protestant ones omit several books and some of the passages, know what bits of the bible they don't read may prove useful, but only if you now whats on them.

2....the book of nod is the vampiric book of the beginning...but it has flaws in the story...for instance, in the book of nod it leaves no mention of Lilith, the first vampire who turned Cain.

3....well...it doesn't equal up to logic...according to the story of Adam and Eve, Cain was born about 800 years after the earth was made....therefore Cain would be about 65,000,000 years old....not around 600 like the book of nod says....:duh

I'm so glad that its summer, cause now I can go to the library and read silly fun books (you can only read so much about organic chemistry before you're brain jumps ship). So I just finished three, and now I'm working on:

Trader by Charles de Lint (wonderful canadian authour, read 'Someplace to be Flying', and I want to get my hands on a copy of 'Onion Girl')
The Shape Changer's Wife by Sharon Shinn (I'm not getting my hopes up about this one, it seems kind of generic)
Otherland by Tad Williams (I really like the artist who, yes, does the cover work :P and thats the whole reason I've ever wanted to read these books.)

most of Anne Rice's book are good...the only one so far I couldnt read was "Cry to Heaven"...for the fact its about Eunochs...and the first paragraph starts with a castration

Ah, the Wheel of Time, those are great books. I'm excited that in Jan 2004, he is putting out a prequel, and sad that I have to wait until 2006 before book 11 comes out. Then I get to start over from book 1 again, because I just can't get enough of that series.....

Good One! May I also suggest Polgara the Sorceress? It's just as good as Belgarath!

Polgara is an awesome book. She's witty and down to earth, I love her. :love

I just moved on to Polgara yesterday. So far I love it.

So Eddings fans do exist!! I've been reading his books for years and now I have some-one to talk to about them.

This is the happiest moment in my life!!!

Im reading 'The monstrous regiment' by Terry Pratchett.

Haha, you're a trip, HM.

I just finished Memnoch the Devil not long ago. I read it to take a break from The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. (You know, the one TNT made a movie of.) Naturally, the book is a lot better. I've read about 3/4 of it. I would strongly suggest this book for fans of Arthurian legend. It seems so simple, it's believable. %)t

Ah, yes, I knew you had good taste, Hanged Man! :kiss I discovered Eddings years ago...when the Belgariad first came out. I have been hooked ever since. I never got to read his next series, I had bought them and then my house burned down. The only things that I lost in that fire that still makes me cry are all my books. :( I've replaced some of them...it will take years to replace all of them. But I did buy Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress. Had to be done. ;)

I think his Elenium/Tamuli trilogies are among his best work, the seeker, the trolls in the valley, the attack on the Holy city.... So many memories, and they're not even real ones.

Yep, Eddings is one of my favourite aurthors of all time. :)

Having finished the Belgariad and the Elenium (with a couple of Terry Pratchett books in between), I've now moved on the Northern Lights, but Philip Pullman.

I am now re-reading (for the umpteenth hundred time) Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard. It is his only 'pure science fiction' novel....the movie sucked, didn't do the book justice at all! Of course, it would have to be about a 12 hour movie to even come close, lol.

I'm reading The Amber Spyglass, The Return of the King, Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Diaries: The Fury and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

And no, I'm not confused by them all. And I still have time for college, videogames, eating and sleeping.

As mentioned in the Anne Rice thread, I'm currently on The Vampire Lestat, page 209 out of 550, I rarely read so I am surprised how quickly I am going through the book and how thoroughly I am enjoying this piece of literature.

Anyways....

I'm reading "Troy" by Adele Geras

And...

"When Hearts Collide" an Erotic Romance... but it's not really romantic, it's just kinky :D. It's by Marilyn Jaye Lewis. :p

I just finished Dhampir by Barb & J.C. Hendee. It was good, but I felt it could've been better. It's about a half-human, half-vampire who's born to hunt... vampires! It's a bit simple, but good in it's simplicity.

I'm about to start Hades' Daughter by Sara Douglass. [bowdown]

I know I'm going to regret asking this, but how could someone be half human/half vampire? Vampires are un-dead. The operative word being dead. As in, not about to have kids any time soon.

I'm sure it made sense in the book and I'm sorry if I seem to be having a go at you, I don't intend to. It's an old argument I've had too many times with friends who didn't understand.

Use your imagination love :D. I do think that whole half human/vampyre is kinda shtoopid. Did a mortal and immortal breed or what? :duh
